Your ability to negotiate impacts so much more than just your pocketbook. We negotiate in all aspects of our lives, so being able to master the steps and stages of a negotiation is vitally important. Listen as Dr. Linda Street shares those steps and how you should approach them.
The first thing you need to remember is that you have to know what you want. So many times we find that women focus solely on salary during job negotiations, but what about the rest of your life? How many hours do you want to work? Do you want to work remotely?
Really consider what you want for your life AND your career and start your negotiations from there.
Also, remember to plan ahead. You’re not planning out the rest of your career, but have an idea for future growth. You are the solution to a problem your employer has, how can you solve that problem while still being true to yourself.
This was such a great conversation. Listen in to hear all of Linda’s tips and learn more about negotiation as a whole! Clear communication, plan ahead, and remember the other side and what they want.
“Really, negotiation is simply a conversation with a goal of making an agreement.” Dr. Linda Street
