Are you ready for my Summer Solocast Series? I am doing some quick solocasts to get you juiced up, infused with encouragement and inspiration. I want you to go about your summer loving your life and making things better.
The work that we do is not impacted by what we wear. I say this because the image of that white coat actually contributed to my burnout. It leads to thoughts of being better than and to needing to be perfect.
Believe it or not, when you put on the white coat, you don’t suddenly become all knowing and perfect. Which is why I fully believe that we need to ditch the dress code and become more focused on being the best doctors we can be both for our patients and ourselves.
What do you think? Do you feel that the dress code we cater to affects our work in any way? Or does it only affect our mindset?
“I think we should look at professionalism as an action and a culture rather than what we put on our bodies.” Dr. Errin Weisman
[02:52] I talk about why I believe that dress code professionalism is patriarchal oppression.
[04:02] The work should speak for itself, it shouldn't matter what we wear.
[05:33] We should be called a doctor no matter what.
[06:03] If this resonates with you, I would love to hear from you.
